Unplug Reset and Refresh

Some of the insights that we give as coaches revolve around trading. What I want to talk about is a direct result of my trading. This year for the holidays I decided that I was going to go home and spend my time with family. Fortunately I don’t have to worry about hurrying back to a job, or how many vacation days I need to take. I decided that I would just pack up my computer up and head to my favorite spot, my families hunting cabin. Our cabin is set back in the woods on almost 300 acres in Southeast Ohio. It used to be completely void of anything modern except electricity until recently, when we added satellite TV so we could be slightly more connected.  However, I spend 90% of the time here in the woods staying off the grid and doing my best to live as simply as possible. I hunt what is in season and eat what I harvest. I get to spend my evenings reading by a fire and relaxing. It is as close to a perfect day as I can think of. I like to come here to collect my thoughts and really reset. This to me is as important as any process of mine when it comes to trading. The more stress I’m under, the more difficult it is to manage my time efficiently and effectively.

It's important for all of us to find whatever it is that resets us, then use it. Maybe it’s a weekend trip to the mountains, a drive in the country, or a weekend stay at a hotel ordering nothing but room service. It is important to do whatever we need to get back to that healthy mindset once in a while. We can get so wrapped up in life that it’s easy to lose track of why we work so hard, put in so many training reps on the computer, wake up at 4 in the morning to catch the market, and so on and so on. My point is to take the time to take care of yourself. Think of yourself once in awhile and do something to get yourself right.  The benefits of having a clear head will pay off in the market. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and happy trading!
